What is Psychotherapy?

In psychotherapy the client processes experiences, thoughts, memories, emotions, fears, and wishes, working through underlying issues toward releasing the past and discovering his/her truth. Psychotherapy is a process of transformation, healing, and liberation from the past.

As a psychotherapist I listen actively and offer support and feedback within a safe environment. The client gets to be seen, heard, and understood, knowing that his/her thoughts and feelings do matter. Dysfunctional thought patterns are gradually replaced by insight and good judgment. It’s all about learning to trust and strengthen his/her sense of self. It changes everything.

My approach in therapy is twofold:

  1. Weekly or bi-weekly sessions

Underlying issues and adverse childhood experiences are addressed, explored, and processed with techniques including trauma work and inner child work (as indicated) toward healing and integration.

Consequently, my clients experience relief of suffering, depression, and anxiety.

2. Mindfulness practice

My clients have the option to learn and practice techniques for reducing anxiety, agitation, and anger through breathing exercises, as well a somatic experiencing and meditation exercises. These techniques actually change the brain, which is of great help for reducing habitual hyper-arousal and reactivity, develop better impulse control, and stop acting out in self-sabotaging ways.

It becomes possible to create internal balance and serenity.
